NACC insulated boxcar, model by Athearn. In 1977 CP began leasing a group of 50 insulated boxcars (actually classed as RBL reefers) from the North American Car Corporation. They were placed within series CPAA 166450-499, and were a diverse collection featuring both exterior-braced and smooth-sided cars, and wore at least three different colours (orange, yellow and green). It is somewhat amazing Athearn decided to release this very Spartan orange CPAA car, but we in the WRMRC applaud them for it. Some decalling was required to back-date this to it’s 1977 appearance, but it is a 100% accurate model that required minimal effort to place into revenue service on the CP Sudbury Division.
